Well as for the title I am coming to find out that when the Army moves you, things get "complicated", rather quickly! As of now..*who knows how long these dates will really last!* Anywho.. May 30th *41 days* the movers will be coming to pack us up. I have a huge fear about this. I can't pack ANYTHING!! They have to pack everything and touch everything. So I will be here with a 1 year old with a bunch of men around, and they will be packing everything. And I have to keep them from packing a pile a stuff that will be going with us in our car.... To a lot of people that would be just fine not having to pack. Hahaha I'm a wee bit OCD about our stuff... Well I guess I will just have to put on my big girl panties and deal with it! Now for the FUN part... It's really 48 days till we move... Yeppers the movers will come pack on the 30th of May and return to load up the truck on June 6th! Soooo we get to live out of our packed up house for a week.. Talk about fun times. I'm hoping for a lot of nice weather days so then I can just take the bug and go to parks and whatnot.. On the 6th of June The Hubby will be signing out for the last time. Giving up his Army ID and atlas so will I, I am not to happy about that.. I wanted to keep it for memory sake... Guess I can't! Boo-Hoo! And then bright and early on the 7th of June we will be heading South East... It's crazy! I feel a little overwhelmed at times. We will have to pack enough stuff in our little car to last us about 2 weeks. We *fingers crossed* will be closing on our Forever Home on the 14th of June. And then The Hubby starts work on the 15th of June... And our stuff is "scheduled" to arrive the 17th... HOWEVER... With it being moving season within the Military it could take up to TWO weeks to get our stuff! SO!!! We need to be prepared to live with just the stuff we bring in our car! So now I am going list crazy, trying to figure out what I will need for The Hubby, Buggy and myself for about 2 weeks. Cooking, cleaning, sleeping... It's going to be IN..TER..EST..ING for sure!
A while back I bought this book, when I thought The Hubby would be staying in the military and going to go work in DC... However God had other plans, but this book is coming into good use even though we will no longer be military. I would recommend it for anyone, she also has one that is based on *non* military moves... I am a very BIG list person I love my to-do lists. Well this book has to-do lists!!
There is it pre-move check list which you do right after you find out your moving. 3 months before your move. 8 weeks before your move. 6 weeks before your move.. (Hit that mark YESTERDAY! I am slowly working on the list)
6 weeks Before Move
-Begin your household inventory, or get one started.
-Decide if you will be having a yard sale before your move and if so start putting those items aside.
-Make copies of all records pertaining to doctors.. For all family members.
-Obtain a change of address packet from the post office and begin filling out the cards. Contact ALL creditors, subscriptions and organizations with your new address, and when to make the change over to that new address.
-Save all receipts pertaining to your move for tax-exemption and reimbursements..
The rest of the list doesn't really per-tain to me since we are not moving to another military base..
Then: 4 weeks before your move. 3 weeks before your move. 2 weeks, 1 week, final days.. Moving Day, and what to do when you get to your new home... It really helps me to stay organized and to make sure I don't forget anything! Which I am highly prone to doing these days. Also I LOVE this book too. My momma got it from a friend when she was moving *I think* and I read it once.. Then right before I got married I was reading it again, since I was moving 20 hours away from my family, I was hoping to get some good tips. Well it was my moms book so I started taking notes in a note book and was writing down pretty much EVERY word, so I splurged and bought the book used online... I think all in all with shipping and handling I spent under $10.00 and it really has some great tips on how to put yourself out there and not become a hermit in your new town and home.. It's super funny and I love all the Bible references too...
"Like a shepherd's tent my dwelling is pulled up and removed from me.." Isaiah 38:12 pg.11 Chapter 2 of the book...
And this book really isn't on moving per-say... BUT it has some AWESOME ideas on how to make your home more inviting and more enjoyable for guests that you have come to your home.. Which is big for The Hubby and I! He LOVES LOVES LOVES entertaining and having friends and family come visit WHENEVER they can... So I highly recommend this too. Just simple ideas on different get togethers you can have, how to make over night guests feel more welcome in your home..etc.. etc... It's a really easy and quick read, packed full of some wonderful information!
Hahaha well I guess that's it! My trio of *moving books* that I would recommend anyone who is moving, and setting up house again...
