Slowly...... But Surely......

So little by little...... Day by day...... My front yard is improving. For a while there I thought all hope was lost on having a nice yard this summer. Due to some exciging and fun news... My husband has orders at the momment for us to PCS *For those who are non-military readers Permanet Change of duty Station or aka being "forced" to move* lol... At first it seemed his orders were going to be ASAP, like I was thinking I didn't know if I was going to be having Hannah HERE or THERE! That's how fast it seemed to be going. BUT then things slowed and so many dates have been thrown out to us... It's crazy. However, as of now, It's EARLY JANUARY 2013... SO.... We shall see, and I will keep y'all posted. However as you can see I get simi-sidetracked very easily these days....

So as I was saying, my front yard is starting to take shape. Remember that Strawberry pot fountian idea from my last post?!?! Well sadly I could not find one to my liking. So after talking *lol and some agruing, sigh I still have issues even after being married for almost 3 years of giving over control in areas that I "deem" as the wife's role! AKA... cooking *hummm married a chef... you think I would be over this one by now!*, decorating the house, and the yard... lol the guy is there to only mow and do the heavey labor... right?!?! hahahaha wrong!!!*

My husband and I were able to come up with this BeAuTiFuL water feature for our front yard! I'm so in love with it....

We took two "plastic" medeuim sized whiskey burrals put them bottom to bottom. My hubby then took two little screws and screwed them together, a little dab of latax culking so the screw areas would not leak... A bag of *FISH* gravel, yes the kind you use for your fish aquieriams, and then a bag of decortive river rock *local craft section of wal-mart* A pump... add some water and POOF! You have this amazing little water feature that is relaxing to listen to, and to watch...

Oh yes and to let you all know, I LOVE toadstools and mushrooms. lol my hubby things in an earlier life that I was one of those people to go and "use" mushrooms. I just cant help it, they are so whimsy and fun! I love them....

This past Saturday I raked the whole front yard and picked up the sticks and trash, no easy feat when you are 8 months preggo let me tell you. And it was a beautiful day, with not a cloud in the sky and I was wereing a tank top... Can you guess what important thing I forgot to put on?!?!?! SuNbLoCk!!!! I always do this at least 2-3 times a summer. My poor back was fried.. But it's getting better now, I believe we shall be entering the peeling stage here in a few days...

Then my hubby laid down grass seed, *too broke to buy sod... sigh.... it would be so much easier and quicker to lay sod...* And then he layered it with some good dirt! And now we are getting to water it 2-3 times a day depending on the warmth of the day...
Then after this coming pay day, I will be ordering wild flower seeds, getting pots and potting soil, and LOTS of panseys *easy to grow, hard to kill*... To start planting in the pots and window boxes... SIGH... never in a million years did I think I would ever be excited about buying dirt and flowers...If you would have told me that I was going to be excited about buying dirt and flowers when I was a teenager and early 20's I would have laughed at you... Thinking only people like my mom liked to do that... hahahaha oh how the tides turn! *LOVE YOU MOM! And thank you for always being there to help me with my MANY gardening questions!!!!!*
I will try my best to keep you posted on the new and exciting happenings of *Our Little Front Yard*
~Be Blessed and Be A Blessing~
